Really, the end of cupcakes (for now)

I couldn’t resist stopping by My Little Cupcake in Studio City before work this past Saturday. It seems a little dangerous to have a cupcake place so close to where I live but I could always use the extra sugar to get me through a weekend shift. This cupcakes at this shop certainly filled that quota.

With cupcake places popping up all over the place, it seemed only a matter of time before one opened up on Ventura Blvd. to directly compete with the Yummy Cupcakes in Burbank and Leda’s Cupcakes further down Ventura Blvd. In terms of taste, the was no difference. After all the cupcakes I have tasted, they all start to meld together. The thing that really stood out was their seemingly over the top Hi Hat cupcake. Basically a chocolate cupcake topped with marshmallow and dipping in chocolate. Think pinwheel cookie on top of a chocolate cupcake. After eating one of those, I was on a buzz of several hours.

Other cupcake flavors bought and later consumed that weekend were the lemon meringue (a nice balance of tart and sweetness but should not be refrigerated due to the meringue topping), black and white (yellow cake with chocolate frosting), red velvet (of course) and chocolate chocolate chocolate. All were good but not outstanding. But it will be interesting to see how this shop goes once the cupcake faze will be over, if ever.
