Working out of Orange County, I thought I was out of the range of any cupcake places until I discovered there was a Sprinkles Cupcakes in Newport Beach. It’s the second store in Southern California aside from the one in Beverly Hills. The Newport Beach location is a mere 7 miles a way from my office and a straight shot from Jamboree Road. Temptation called and I ventured west during my lunch hour.
Aside from picking up a last of their eggnog spice cupcake to counter any afternoon sugar low, I also purchased a cupcake mix. Red velvet cupcake mix to be exact.
Included with the dry mix are Sprinkles’ signature ‘modern dots’ and a recipe for the cream cheese frosting. Still a little steep for $14 in my opinion. The mix can also be purchased at Williams-Sonoma in vanilla and chocolate flavors. Each mix makes cupcakes.
Hey there! Nice post, just found it through the tags after posting ours (check it out at http://queenbeeeatsforaday.wordpress.com/2010/07/02/this-oness-for-you-cupcake/ if you like).
Love, love, love Sprinkles in Newport Beach. So much fun, but too tiny of a shop.
Love your blog, can’t wait to dig through the archives. Good looking burrito on the front page today!
